Welcome to the Little Day Out Shop!

Back by popular demand!

Bring your family on a treasure hunt with a difference! Instead of searching for gold, silver and pearls in a treasure chest on a secluded island, we’ll be looking for “animals” around Hua Language Centre at Parkway Parade. And not just any animals, but only those who have made it on our Chinese idiom list!

On this urban treasure hunt, you’ll discover fascinating facts about animal-themed Chinese idioms; solve interesting clues with your newfound knowledge, creativity and resourcefulness; have your teamwork as a family tested; and even get to showcase your photography skills! (You don’t need to be a photography expert, but do bring along a smartphone with photo-taking capability)!

The family to find all the “treasures” in the shortest time will be crowned our Urban Treasure Hunt Champion and even win a family trophy! No one goes home empty handed. Every participating family will get a goodie bag containing a $20 Hua Language Centre voucher, a cute Hua Language tote bag, a set of flash cards and a booklet on animal-themed Chinese idioms!

It’s going to be a lot of fun – not to mention a good workout! – learning and searching together as a family. Don’t worry if your command of the Chinese language is not that great. Hanyu pinyin will be provided and clue instructions will be given in English as well. Our helplines are open too (at the cost of some precious minutes though) during the hunt.

By the end of the hunt, we hope you would have found a new appreciation for Chinese – a treasure to keep and shine for generations to come.

Come, join us for a great outing!

About Hua Language Centre
Armed with an understanding of brain science, child psychology and Chinese linguistics (and for older students, exam taking strategies), Hua Language Centre has developed its own curriculum that makes learning Chinese effective and fun at the same time. The result speaks for itself: for 19 consecutive years since 1999, more than 90% of Hua’s Primary 6 students have scored A or A* in the PSLE Chinese exams!

Hua was also the winner of the inaugural Singapore Education Awards – Best Enrichment Programme organised by Singapore Education, Singapore Tourism Board, and was appointed by MOE Language Centre to organise an immersion Mandarin course for French exchange students in Singapore. The centre is driven by a passion for Chinese and a desire to help children master this increasingly useful language.
